Does Decentralized Web Programming and Cloud-Based Services Use Same Energy?
Does Decentralized Web Programming and Cloud-Based Services Use Same Energy?
The main goal of the decentralized web (DWeb) is to remove the centralized conveyor's power, such as Facebook and Google, monetizing them by asking the world's data and selling ads. It reminds me of the original concept of the Web, where every computer client and server will share information on a more or less equal basis.

Of course not how it works in real life. What really happened is that you will be able to deliver long-running tails with small legal entities and distribution of power laws.
Clay Shirky wrote in 2003 that "many individuals have the ability to select many choices in a number of options, with the smallest subset of the whole of the unequal amount of traffic (or attention, or revenue) without any moral weakness, fatigue or any other psychological explanation.
There are still many varieties on the web, but almost everyone has a large search engine, a large retailer, a huge auction site, a huge social network, a huge encyclopedia and so forth. In fact, there are only dozens of competing networks that use multiple large protocols, and there is only one major Internet connection.
Obviously, we have all agreed on these subjects on the basis of open standards. However, people vote instead of competitive criteria rather than their wallets and competition standards. Examples include Microsoft Windows, Google Search and Facebook. Each competition has succeeded in the market.
I'm not saying that it is the ideal solution, in many cases, is inevitable.
Power and availability

Companies such as Amazon AWS, Microsoft and Google have covered the world for making the world more accessible with server forms. Thousands of millions of dedicated computers can be disabled or hardened with real distribution systems as it is not available when you need data that you distribute. If worse, do not replicate, you may lose data.
Server farms use a large number of electricity, which is most used for cooling purposes. However, the cost of using cheap renewable sources such as solar panels for operators is a powerful incentive, and reduction of power consumption in other ways. For example, Facebook has built a data center in northern Sweden where the air is very cold, while Microsoft is experimenting with easy access to data centers.
Planting of trees in Ireland as well as part of its commitment to keep Microsoft Carbon neutral.
The same decentralized network, which is based on tens of millions of small servers, does not have the same incentives to reduce fuel consumption or economic reforms. And, indeed, I think DWeb would use the same giant datacenters like everyone else.
Graffiti and black chain
Wikipedia has a profound effect on global energy consumption, and can be used almost as Austria (8.2 GW) by the end of this year. Although Wikipedia is the mining wide spread transition mutation - anyone can do it with the PC - special equipment in data centers. However, this is not inappropriate for graphite and I suspect the remaining DWeb.
Fortunately, GritTotx does not use Wikipedia blocking to store anything other than its identity. This is a graphite decision to use the BlackStock application development system. In addition, graphite uses its own virtual blockchain.
To get started, you are using the BlackStock browser to register your name in the Wikipedia: Blackjack. Once you do this, you can use graphite and other block stock applications. The app store has 34. (Gaia BlackStock's decentralized storage system).
Graphite has two obvious advantages. First, all your files are encrypted. Second, you can store whatever you want. By default, graphite uses the Microsoft Azure Cloud, but you can connect to Dropbox, Google Drive, or another service.
Your files are encrypted, so the storage provider can not read them and they are not censored.
DWeb or not?
Web inventor Sir Tim Berners-Lee, Brewster Kahl from the Internet Archive and Missillley Baker from Missile Baker, I'm promoting the distribution of the web by people I worship. It has a valid reason for existence: the watchdog does not work as unpaid servants for the capitalist system, and people should have their own information and control. However, many people follow at least resistance, so that the web does not change overnight.
If you have access to encryption and online safe files online, there are other ways to do this, such as BoxSpipter and Whispele. DWeb applications must become more user friendly and mobile before reaching a mass market.
But savings in power consumption do not appear to me compared to the cloud service.
One of the issues that came back to the decentralized web, the Internet is no longer decentralized. It has been redesigned around major server farms, high-speed pipelines and content distribution networks. It looks more like a broadband television network, because it makes a lot of time at the time.
Today's web netflix movies, iPlayer, spot music, has been optimized for watching BBC shows on live streams of all major sporting events. You can upload your own live streams, but the communications are asynchronous: your downloads are much faster and more reliable than your uploads. It's easy to see 1TB movies, but it's frustrating when trying to upload a 1TB backup to your hard drive.
If you really want to save energy and Internet resources, stop streaming content. TV and radio broadcasts can reach millions of people and add another million extra plus additional power consumption. There is a school of thought that you can use multiple files to reuse CDs or DVDs in upcoming albums or movies, or that it is better to use digital files stored on your PC or smartphone.
Use graphite instead of replacing Google Docs or Microsoft Office, just use the offline word processor. If you run Windows, you already have a text editor (Notepad) and plain text processor (Word Pad) and there are many free alternatives. This will reduce your overall energy consumption and increase your privacy.
It's easy. If Google does not want to read your documents, do not write your documents on Google's computers. And if cloud servers do not want to use power, do not use the cloud.
