How to Know when a Recipient Reads Your Email
when you send an urgent email to your employ if you want to know whether he read the mail or not ,set up these settings on your Gmail.
If you're sending someone an important email, find out when they opened it by setting up a receipt they read.
The read request is sent to each recipient in the To and Cc fields, but not to the recipients of the Bcc field, mailing list or alias.
Note: Read receipts work in most e-mail systems, but the behavior depends on different e-mail software. For more information, see Enabling Unread Receipts.

In the Receipt box, click Send Receipts or Not Now.
If you click Not Now, you will be asked again the next time you open the message.
